If you’re anything like us, you probably spend a lot of time Zoom-ing your way through life these days. While we love its convenience and opportunities for connection in the pandemic, we also know that you might get a little fatigued spending a lot of time in front of your screen. To give you some fresh inspiration, here are some new ideas for safe celebrations outside of your computer’s video chat app.

Decorate your home

You might have been spending a lot of extra time at home this year, so taking time to spruce it up will add even more cheer than usual. You’ll have more opportunities this year to enjoy your handiwork and notice the little details on items you’ve had for years. So take out your favorite decorations and make your house sparkle with the holiday spirit. Enjoy waking up and seeing things that bring a big smile to your face in the morning! You can also bring some cheer to your neighbors if you bring out lots of your outdoor decorations. Everyone likes coming home to a beautifully lit neighborhood at night and enjoying seasonal garlands and window decor during the day.

Have a group watch party for your favorite holiday-themed movie

Most streaming services have a group watching option that allows multiple people to watch the same movie at the same time. This month, get your loved ones together from their own homes for something different. With a group watch party, there’s no need to think of exciting news to give, it’s just a relaxing time watching a fun movie you all love. Enjoy the celebratory atmosphere and have some laughs. Classic flicks will bring everyone together and will be appropriate for all age groups. If your family or friends really enjoy this activity, you could begin a weekly tradition, and assign each person a week to pick the film everyone will watch!

Cook — or learn to cook — a favorite holiday food

Even when things feel different, everyone wants to eat a delicious dish! Whether you live by yourself or with a house full of family or roommates, you will have a blast cooking or baking your favorite foods. Bring out a cookbook you’ve had for a while and make a traditional meal, or search online for a new twist on an old classic.

If you like baking, have fun decorating cookies or cupcakes, and if you have kids, bring them in on the fun! Take pictures and share them with your loved ones to make them smile too. Even better, personalize them for different family members and send them by mail as a thoughtful and inexpensive gift.

Volunteer

Bring the spirit of the holidays to others who may need some help this month. Donate to your favorite charity or write thank you cards to tireless healthcare workers. Participating in a toy drive to brighten a child’s day or supplying homeless shelters and animal shelters will blankets and food are also wonderful ways to give back to your community and show others than even in a difficult year, the season of giving is alive and well.

We can’t wait to help you find the perfect volunteer opportunities, learn interesting skills, and connect with new friends. Stay tuned for Help-Full’s app, coming early 2021. We wish you a very happy holiday season!

Do you have some favorite ways to celebrate from home? Let us know in the comments- we would love to hear from you.
